Read down that middle column and one thing stands out. The caffeine is the only amount on this bottle that any trial also used, and the trial that used it did so as the arm that was supposed to do nothing. Dulloo's 1999 paper ran caffeine alone at 150 mg a day and reported no effect on energy expenditure, respiratory quotient, urinary nitrogen or catecholamines. The arm that did raise 24-hour energy expenditure by four per cent was the one carrying 270 mg of EGCG.
The chlorogenic acid figure has the same shape. The 2023 pooling puts its 1.30 kg at 500 mg a day and above, so 65 mg is around an eighth of the threshold, and a separate dose-response analysis found no association between chlorogenic acid dose and any anthropometric change at all. Hydroxycitric acid at 65 mg is a twenty-third of the 1,500 mg a day that had already failed in the JAMA trial.
Raspberry ketone is a different problem rather than a smaller one. There is no human dose to compare 130 mg with, in either direction. The one human trial that contains it tested a multi-ingredient product in which its own contribution cannot be separated out, and the seller's own twelve-item reference list carries no raspberry ketone citation.
A capsule is not obliged to match a trial dose to be worth taking, and a stimulant at a sensible amount is a real thing. What the table rules out is the inference people make on their own: that because green tea catechins raised energy expenditure in a trial, a capsule containing green tea inherits that result. At 58.5 mg of EGCG it does not.

Onset ran from 13 to 223 days with a median of 51, 91 per cent were hospitalised, one patient was transplanted and one died.
That is a rare outcome against a very large number of bottles sold, and it is not a reason to panic. It is a reason to know the signs and to treat a 180-day plan differently from a 30-day one. Dark urine, yellowing of the eyes or skin, unusual tiredness, or persistent pain under the right ribs mean stopping and being seen. A 2025 review covers the same ground.
The second is caffeine, and here the numbers are reassuring in an unexpected direction. The United States Pharmacopeia expert panel places the case reports of green tea extract liver injury in a range from 140 mg to about 1,000 mg of EGCG a day. This capsule carries about 58.5 mg, below that range. The same panel notes that a bolus of green tea extract taken fasting sharply raises catechin absorption, and this label directs the capsule 20 to 30 minutes before a meal, which is that condition.
For the stimulant itself, 138 mg declared is about a third of the 400 mg a day figure for a healthy adult, with an unpublished amount on top from two extracts. Dose-response work on blood pressure is the reason anyone treated for hypertension should count this in rather than treat it as free.
