These pages are static files. There is no account, no login, no basket and no database behind them, which means most of what a privacy policy usually has to describe does not exist here.

What does exist is ordinary web serving. A request for a page leaves a record with the host in the same way a request for any website does, and that record is what the table below describes.

The forms on the contact page are checklists. Nothing typed into them leaves the browser, because there is no server behind them to receive it.

If you write to [email protected], that message and the address it came from are kept for as long as the correspondence is live and then deleted. It is not added to a list, it is not sold, and nothing is sent to you that you did not ask for.

Four organisations, and only one of them ever holds a card number.

A data request about an order has to reach the checkout, because that is where the order lives. A data request about correspondence with this website reaches this desk. Sending either to the other is the commonest reason a request takes a month.

Every research citation on this website opens on a government or publisher domain, most often the National Library of Medicine. Those are other people's websites with other people's policies, and following a link means leaving this one.

External links here carry attributes that ask a browser not to pass referrer information along and not to treat the link as an endorsement. That is the most a static page can do, and it is worth knowing it is not the same as anonymity.

• Nothing about which citation you followed comes back to this website.

• No advertising network, no tracking pixel and no social widget is embedded on any page here.

Nothing in the first two rows is used for marketing, and nothing is passed to a third party.

Corrections are the one thing kept deliberately. When a figure on a page changes, the reason is recorded so that the same question does not have to be re-answered a year later. The record is about the page rather than about the person who wrote in.

This product is for healthy adults aged 18 and over, and the label says so in its own caution. Nothing here is written for or directed at children, and no part of this website knowingly collects anything from anybody under 18.

No system is beyond compromise, and a policy that promised otherwise would be worth less than one that says this. What limits the damage here is how little exists: no card numbers, no order history, no account passwords and no customer database.
